Hellooooo anyone home?

Yikes, has it really been this long.  I feel like we have been living in the sewing studio.    Since my daughter’s move back to our town it has been crazy, and mostly work, not enough play.   It feels we have neglected everything for so long.

Rather than pop in and post a few wonderfully exciting post I think I will lump it into one.  You can glance through the photos and see what we have been up to lately.     In honor of my terrible blogging skills I will be presenting a mishmash of cute new items as well as just cute!  Ta Da…

Time to Score Some Funky Macbook and Laptop Sleeves

Oh so fun, the summer before your leave for college.  Preparing, getting all the dorm goodies, new clothes, finding out who the new room mate will be.  It’s all fun and games until you leave your Mom bawling in the hallway!   Those are two days I will never forget, leaving my son and then my daughter at their schools oh so far away (36.5  minutes  and 1:42.5 minutes away)  Those were two of my saddest and yet proudest moments.  My kids could have asked for anything at all the weeks before and it would probably have been theirs.    So now is the time, hit your Mom up!  Time to get that new laptop sleeve for that sparkling new macbook you got for graduation.  I mean after all what Mom wants her little precious girl to go to college without a stylish macbook?     Well since you asked, we can certainly help you figure out what sleeve to purchase.  We have a few in our shop as well as the ability to custom make one from any of our fabrics. Another Funky iPad or iPad 2 Sleeve – In Love

It would probably be hard to imagine, but I have more than a couple of fabric scraps laying about my sewing studio.  Buckets and bins and baskets full would be the best way to put it.  I don’t think its an obsession, I think its more of a love affair.   When I finish up a well loved favorite  fabric and have that four by four inch scrap left  how can I be so callous as to just dump it in the trash?   So instead I will stash it away, certain one day I will want that little scrap.  Today I pulled out those buckets and made the most adorable ipad sleeve.  It is a one of a kind for sure.  We have been playing with a new envelope style design, and I adore it.   So for the lover of all things patchy and funky here is our newest ipad sleeve.

A Swag Bag Bag Set ;) for Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift was fortunate enough to get a keeta bag,  oops… I mean I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to include a keeta collection tote in a swag bag for Taylor Swift to receive while at  the CMA.

I started out making a soft form sweet bag when something very strange happened, it grew and grew into a gigantic beach bag.  Maybe a little too large for the occasion.  So I reworked my pattern into a bag that is a terrific size for everyday.  Soft and cute, fits lots of goodies and stylish.   It seemed to fit her personality, soft and sweet but yet strong.  I will have it listed for sale on my website http://keetacollection.com/Taylor-Swift-Bag.htm.

Zipper Top Kindle – Nook – Ereader Sleeves Now In

A Lesson on Relaxation or Two Lazy Fellows

My dog Ramsey loves to get a good tan going.  He will spend hours laying out on the deck.  Do they have doggy sunscreen?  Better check that.   His little belly is actually getting browner by the day.  He tried to get his younger nephew involved, but he was more interested in chasing squirrels.    But finally, he worked his magic and the two of them were so content.    I am a bit shocked that Ramsey didn’t bring his beloved purple velour pillow with him.   He normally takes it to the door when he is ready to go sunbathing.

**Furniture strewn about the yard makes for great decorating, doesn’t it?  Our grass doesn’t stand a chance of coming in with these two racing around, so we have blockaded the delicate parts.

Confession – I come from a family of LARGE

I come by it honestly, my family is filled with builders and do it yourselfers.  My father and brother are also afflicted with it…. the problem of LARGE.    When I find myself needing a new piece of furniture as well as a case of sore muscles and back aches I can simply turn to my dad.  He can build ANYTHING!  I should post some of the goodies he has made…  desk,  table, bed, dresser and on and on.  The problem is everything is sooo heavy and sometimes turns out slightly larger than intended.   If we are in question as to if he built the furniture we dont look  for a stamp or a signature, we simply try to lift it.  If we can’t, we know it was made by my Dad!

From time to time I find myself  breaking out with a bad case of the LARGE.  This week I made an adorable purse.  In my mind, it was a purse.   But I thought, ooohh let me make it oversized.  Then I thought… oohhh a little bigger..   Well, a bolt of fabric later, my purse is now a giant beach or shopping bag.   You wouldn’t be able to walk if you filled it completely full.  But I LOVE it.   It was a struggle to decide if I wanted to put it up for sale or keep it.   I decided to put it on the website before I caved.  Then I rushed over to order more of the same fabric for myself  My future Daughter In Law had the nerve to ask me if at any point during the making process I thought maybe it was going to be quite large.  Well…. more is better right?    So without further ado  I present to you the Island Hopper, with linen straps, a burlap bottom and room for plenty!  But at least you can pick it up, it’s not heavy.

Did you get an ipad 2?  I can’t imagine loving it more that I already love my ipad, but apparently… it’s new and improved.  My ipad already has a great battery life, but the ipad 2 is even longer.  Mine is light and easy to hold, but shockingly the ipad2 is lighter.  Crazy technology!

Spring is in the air – there are purses everywhere

The sun is out, the windows are open, the air is crisp and warm… what more could we ask for?  I have been dying to dig in and work on some of my new bags with the beautiful spring fabrics.   Why is it that each time I see a new Amy Butler fabric I think I MUST have it?    Good thing I spent the cold days reworking my studio, more room for fabric!
